Heriot Toun in winter

words for winter

A Valley Section

I see the threaded dream

Of farmer, miner,

Steelworker, fisherman,

Lacemaker, woodturner,

Pug driver, nuclear physicist,

Teem and tap, settle and fettle

Whittle and polish, erode and radiate

The garments of your storyline

A magnetic attraction of elements.

Psyche sat by Kilbirnie Loch

Dreamt of her ancestors -

Hard work lies ahead

In the new land, She rests -

The radiant Hygieia will teach her

Of healing, poetry and the art of the smith.
